Delivery Data Analysis for a small town
Share
The following charts show data compiled from thousands of deliveries in a small town, from 2022 to 2024.
At first glance, it is difficult to determine which data to graph, since there are so many variables that could be paired, but it is this flexibility that makes it interesting to study.
First, I will showcase some aggregate factors, such as age and gender, paired against the total number of deliveries.
The following chart, Figure 1.2, shows a visualization of the age groups from the delivery data shown in Figure 1.1, from 2022 to 2024.
Age | Orders | % |
<18 | 5281 | 19.97% |
18 -30 | 11899 | 45.01% |
31 - 50 | 7926 | 29.98% |
51+ | 1333 | 5.04% |

Next, I will show different factors paired against the total cost of a single trip. For example, time of day, day of the week, age, gender, and geographic area. Then, I will show this expenditure data across different time periods, such as day, week, month, year, and total time.
The following graph, Figure 3.2, shows the amount spent on every order during the month of January 2024. During this year, I did not work on Sundays. The total number of orders this month was 813. The average order cost was $217.22, the highest was $2,607 and the lowest was $25. The median was $175. The most orders occurred on Saturday at 20.66%. Month after month, I noticed that the data became predictable. During the very start, back in 2022, all of the numbers grew very quickly, until they plateaued a couple of months in. This data from 2024 perfectly represents this, because at this point I had been established for a long time, so there were no significant changes. The majority of the orders were below $1,000. It is interesting that every month, the average order cost was very close, despite the many outliers. Every day, I never knew who was going to order, or how many orders I would get, and everything was seemingly random. But all of this chaos was converted into order by the end of every month. Predictable revenue, number of orders, even the percentage of tips.
